Football Fan Policy For Home Contests

Football games held at BKW and Duanesburg will allow two spectators per athlete.

Games at neutral or away sites will be subject to the rules of that particular facility and may not allow fans.

For home games, each athlete will be given two spectator passes. The individuals
using those passes must enter through the designated area, display the pass and
complete a COVID questionnaire prior to entering the field. Spectators must be masked
and practice proper social distancing at all times. Failure to follow protocols will result in
removal from the contest.
Thank you for your continued support during this most challenging time.

Volleyball Fan Policy

Volleyball will not be allowing fans for the Fall 2 season. All games will be streamed at  https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/berne-knox-senior-high-school-berne-ny for a small monthly subsciption fee. Away games will be streamed by each specific school.

Western Athletic Conference Statement on Spectators

at Fall 2 Soccer Games

The Western Athletic Conference has developed a boys and girls varsity soccer
schedule that utilizes neutral site turf fields that will allow league games to be played
until weather improves and our school fields become playable. To make this work, we
have created a schedule in which multiple games are played at a single location and
with little time between games. With the number of people that would be coming from
various counties to attend these games, the WAC, in consultation with our local county
health departments and host sites, has made the difficult decision to not allow
spectators at any of these neutral site soccer games. While we know this decision will
be upsetting to many, it is being made with the health and safety of all spectators,
families, players, coaches, officials and school communities in mind.
Failure to follow the no spectator rule will result in games being stopped until the
premises is cleared. Further violations of the spectator rule could result in forfeiture of
games and/or the elimination of neutral site games for the league. We are excited our
teams have the opportunity to compete during this difficult year. While we understand
families want to support their athlete in person, we appreciate your support and
understanding of the circumstances.
On April 12th, games will move to our school fields (conditions permitting) in a
traditional “home and away” format, at which time two spectators per athlete will be
allowed. At that time, each athlete will be given two spectator passes.

Governor Cuomo has stated that “high-risk” sports may begin play as of February 1, pending the approval of local Albany County Department of Health. Our local health department has stated that our high-risk winter sports of JV/varsity basketball, JV/varsity wrestling and varsity cheerleading can begin once the following qualifications are met:

  • Each school district’s Board of Education or non-public school’s Board of Directors (or other appropriate person/entity) must approve the district/school’s participation in each specific higher-risk sport.
  • Each school superintendent/school leader must oversee the creation of a sport-specific preparedness plan, to be approved by the district/school’s medical director.
  • Each parent/guardian must sign an informed consent.
  • Each student-athlete must have medical clearance from their healthcare provider.
  • Each parent/guardian, student-athlete, and school official must agree to fully cooperate with case investigations and contact elicitation and to adhere to isolation and quarantine orders.
  • Each district/school must establish a confidential phone number and email address to allow student athletes, parents, or others to report concerns.
  • The 7-day rolling average percent positivity in the county, as calculated by NYSDOH, must be at or below 4.0%. If the 7-day rolling average percent positivity is above 4.0%, then activities must be restricted to individual or distanced group training or organized no/low-contact group training.
  • The region’s hospital capacity (percent of hospital beds available) must be above 15%, as calculated by NYSDOH.

In anticipation of meeting these requirements, please make sure the following are on file with the school district:

  1. A valid physical from either 2018-19, 2019-20 or 2020-21 with the school nurse.
  2. An athletic registration has been completed on bkwschools.org.

Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ Bowling will begin practice 12/14/20. There will not be a modified bowling team this year due to alley availability and the covid restrictions. Interested athletes should sign up at bkwschools.org. You must have a valid physical on file with the school nurse to begin practice.

School physicals will be 12/8/20 at noon. Please sign up with the school nurse – Alicia.lounsbury@bkwschools.org. ALL ATLETES WILL NEED A VALID PHYSICAL ON FILE TO PARTICIPATE.

The Western Athletic Conference has voted to not field high-risk modified sports (basketball, cheer and wrestling) this season due to the pandemic.

High-risk JV and Varsity sports practice (basketball, cheer and wrestling) will begin 1/4/2021 pending NYS approval. If approved, there will be a league only schedule played without fans through 2/28/21. In addition, cheerleaders will not be cheering for basketball games. Cheer will take place only if there are competitions within the WAC.

BKW will not be fielding an indoor track team this year. Section 2 is not able to provide a schedule due to the lack of facilities that host meets. College venues will not be opening their doors because of covid-19.
